Product Description

Samsung SM-A065 (Galaxy A06) – MT6358 Power IC Hardware Solution

Samsung SM-A065 (Galaxy A06) is a MediaTek based smartphone, and its complete power control system depends on the MT6358 Power IC. This IC works as the main power controller on the motherboard. In practical mobile repair work, many dead, no-power, or restart problems in this model are caused by MT6358 failure.

Role of MT6358 Power IC

The MT6358 Power IC takes voltage from the battery and distributes stable power to all major parts of the phone. It supplies proper voltage to the CPU, RAM, internal storage, display section, backlight, camera, audio, and network circuits. When the power key is pressed, MT6358 starts the power-on sequence step by step. If this IC is not working correctly, the phone will not turn on at all.

Common Problems Seen in SM-A065

Based on real repair experience, the following problems usually indicate MT6358 power IC issues:

Phone completely dead, no vibration or display

No response when pressing the power button

Phone restarts automatically or stuck on logo

Very low or zero charging current

Power IC area heats immediately after battery connection

No display or backlight due to missing voltage

These issues mostly appear after water damage, charging short, heavy drop, power surge, or use of poor-quality charger.

How to Diagnose MT6358 Power IC

First, check the battery voltage. It should normally be between 3.8V and 4.2V. Next, check the main power line (VPH_PWR). If battery voltage is present but the phone remains dead, MT6358 should be suspected.

Using a DC power supply makes diagnosis easier. If the phone shows no current draw or unstable current when the power key is pressed, it usually points to a power IC fault. Also check for short circuit near the MT6358 area using a multimeter.

Visual inspection is also important. Any corrosion, cracked components, or damaged coils and capacitors near the power IC can stop the phone from powering on.

Hardware Repair Solution

Sometimes, reflow of the MT6358 Power IC can temporarily fix the problem if it is caused by dry solder joints. However, this is not a long-term solution.

The proper and permanent repair is MT6358 Power IC replacement. Carefully remove the faulty IC using controlled hot air temperature. Clean the pads properly, then install a new or reballed MT6358 IC and solder it correctly.

After replacement:

Check for short circuit

Measure main voltage lines

Power ON the phone using DC supply first

Also check nearby coils, resistors, and capacitors. A faulty supporting component can damage the new power IC again.

Important Precautions

Always disconnect the battery before heating

Avoid excessive heat to protect CPU and RAM

Use good quality flux and tools

Confirm the fault before replacing the IC
